Apple Small Plate Handmade | 105mm | Earth -Set of 2
【What is Tsugaru Kanayama ware?】
In 1984, Ryoji Matsumiya established Tsugaru Kanayama ware in the town of Goshogawara, Aomori. His work draws deep inspiration from Sue ware, which originated in the 5th or 6th century. Kanayama ware utilizes a technique from Sue pottery known as "Yakishime," in which the works are fired at a high temperature of 1350 ℃ without any glaze. This method results in pieces with remarkable depth, as the interplay of flame and ash creates various textures. The firing process gives rise to a diverse range of unique pieces, each with its own individual character.
